From Apprentice to Smile! Leah's Journey

When I was at school I knew nothing about recruitment, I would even go as far to say I didn't know it existed! Even though I would have been surrounded by supply teachers I was none the wiser. And now I work full time in this busy and exciting sector.

Making the Move- Emma's Smile journey

t’s so refreshing to work for a company who really recognise your hard work.

Almost 18 months ago I made the difficult decision to move agency. It was not an easy decision and one that I thought long and hard about but I can honestly say that I have never looked back. Coming to work for Smile was the best career decision that I have ever made and to be promoted to Associate Director last Friday was just the icing on the cake.

Oxfordshire office 7 weeks later!

7 weeks ago, we held our launch event in Oxford where we let a range of schools and supply teachers know more about our ethos and launched our Smile Reward Club. The weeks that followed have been a blur of school meetings, teacher interviews and bookings!

We are working with a large number of secondary schools across Oxfordshire and the West Midlands (Birmingham, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Dudley, Sandwell, Worcester, Telford, Coventry, Warwickshire and Staffordshire) who are looking for staff to cover short term absences. Their preferred way of covering is to use Cover Supervisors and these opportunities are perfect for you if you have recently graduated or are looking for a career change and think teaching might be for you!

Rep to Rec!

I don’t think anyone ever decides when they leave school that they want to work towards a career in recruitment. From my experience speaking to other consultants, it always seems to be something that people kind of ‘fall into’.

This was exactly the case for me. I worked in sales overseas for 6 years and the prospect of finding a job in the UK was depressing to say the least . . . no sun, no sea, no sand and the monotony of a 9-5 job sat at a desk. Even though being a rep was the hardest job I have ever had (and think I ever will have) surely the skills I had learnt would be transferable to something?
